From Clicks to Conversations: Bringing Truth to Life
We live in a world today, with the internet, that all kinds of thoughts and opinions are sent out without checking the validity of them. Here are a few thoughts I hope you will consider helpful as you encounter people in your day-to-day travels. We have devices that connect us to the internet, social media, etc., but people need connection with other people. We do and they do. Get to know the people you encounter. Ask questions about their life. Ask them their story. When they’ve shared their story, ask them, ‘What do you believe about…?’ When they respond, ask them, ‘Why do you believe that?’ When we listen, we earn the right to ask more questions. If they aren’t a follower of Jesus Christ, a big question you can ask is, ‘If Christianity were true would you become a Christian?’ And then listen. You may ask a clarifying question, ‘Would you tell me more about that?’ If the person is favorable to Christianity. Help them know or grow closer to Christ. If the person is not favorable to Christianity here are 5 things you can do:
1) Pray for them.
2) Love them.
3) Plant seeds in your future conversations.
4) Ask questions when the opportunity comes up, i.e. What do you mean by that? How did you come to that conclusion? Have you ever considered what the Bible says?
5) Wait - If you’re doing the other four, remember God is working.
We have entered the season when opportunities for spiritual conversations are going to be popping up around us. I hope you will pray that God will show you the opportunities we have around us every day to point people to the truth of God, Jesus.
Grace and Peace,
Brian Frank
