Simple Questions that Open Eternal Doors

I am so thankful for the people God has put in my life and brings across my path.  Recently I took my car in to get the oil changed.  As I was sitting in my car, one of the workers came up to my window and handed me a ‘little Jesus’.  He said, ‘Everyone needs a little Jesus.’  It brought a smile to my face.  I asked him, ‘what got you started sharing the ‘little Jesus’.  He said he has been doing this since one of his fellow workers gave him one.  He has given out almost 300 and said 90+percent of people receive the gift in a positive way.

Some of us struggle with getting into a spiritual conversation.  Our fear that someone may receive the conversation in a negative way gets in the way of us being blessed by finding a fellow believer or helping someone know that you are a safe place to talk about spiritual things.

To inspire and encourage you, here are some questions for those conversations:

  • Are you a spiritual person?  Tell me about your spiritual life.

  • Do you go to church?  Where?  Tell me about your church.

  • To you who is Jesus?

  • What are you thankful to God for in your life?

  • How real has God been to you this week?

  • Has the Bible been a comfort to you this week?

  • How is your prayer life?

  • Have you been experiencing God’s forgiveness and love this week?

  • Is God challenging you to something through the word?

Ask these questions of the people in your life.  Help them to keep sharing with you by simply saying, ‘Tell me more about that’.

Their responses to these questions will show if there is evidence of God presence in their lives, that scripture is changing them, and they have a growing appreciation of God’s mercy.  When we ask questions like these with genuine curiosity and care.  People will be glad that someone wants to know who they are.  Go and make disciples.

Grace and Peace,
Brian Frank
