More than a List!

Most Sunday evenings we have a prayer meeting.  This isn’t like many church’s prayer meetings.  They usually have a prayer list; the pastor prays at the beginning and then there is a Bible study the rest of the time.

Our prayer meeting is a prayer meeting.  The time begins with two questions and those willing, share their responses.

  • The first question is:  Did you get an opportunity to share the gospel, your testimony, or have a spiritual conversation since last we met?

  • The second question is:  How as God spoken to you since we last met through your devotional time, Sunday school or other way?

Then we share updates to the current prayer list and new requests.  Then we pray.  Those present who want to pray, voice their prayers.

Why this format?

Scripture says we are to make disciples.  Making disciples starts with our relationship with God.  Then it moves to having spiritual conversations with those God puts in our path.  Then we share the gospel with them in hopes they will trust Christ.  All of this must be supported by prayer.  Our prayer meetings create a time of fellowship, prayer, and accountability.

Noble Avenue Baptist Church is “A Place of Grace” and we experience that grace through God moving in our relationship with Him.  We pray.  We have a conversation with God.

If you haven’t been to our prayer meetings before or in a while, I encourage you to join us.  It is amazing to hear God moving in our lives, the lives we encounter, and especially through our prayers.  We meet on Sunday evenings at 6:00 PM in Fellowship Hall (be sure to double check the calendar).

Grace and Peace,
Brian Frank
